Who is At Risk of Blood Clots

Blood clots happen to people of all ages and from all walks of life, but some people are a lot more likely to be affected by them than others are. So, who is at a risk of developing them and if you are one of those people, what can be done about it?

It turns out that those who have been immobilized in bed for over 3 days might be at a higher risk, but also those who travel a lot more likely to develop deep vein thrombosis if they aren’t careful enough and don’t take enough steps to prevent the condition. Also, if you are pregnant, and smoking you need to be extra careful because a blood clot can happen to you at any time.

If you notice something suspicious on one of your legs, don’t panic, but rather contact your doctor immediately. Many cases of blood clots are completely curable and shouldn’t be a problem. Don’t ignore the issue though. If you know that you tend to be immobilized for longer periods of time, or if you sit in front of your PC for many hours per day, consider getting a checkup to prevent any possible blood clots.
