4 Reasons You Might Be Experiencing Back Pain

When it comes to one of the most uncomfortable things that a person can experience, back pain may be up there as the worst.  It can take it’s toll on our mood distract us from work, and even affect our ability to stand up and get around.

If you’ve never experienced back pain before and this is your first time, you may be wondering what is causing it and how to stop it.  Before you panic, try looking at some of the most common reasons for back pain and what you can do to remedy it.

A Prior Injury

Sometimes when injuries occur due to getting in a car accident, injuring yourself due to physical activity like a sport, or experiencing a fall, the injury may flare up again later in life leading to feeling pain even though a considerable amount of time has passed since the injury occurred.

If you start to feel symptoms from a previous injury, you should consider going to see a massage therapist or Osteopath who can help identify where your injuries are pinpointed, and start a long term treatment solution to ensure the injury won’t worsen over time.

If you start to experience pain from a result of a prior injury, it’s important to ensure that you take action sooner than later rather than letting it get worse.  The more time that passes and it’s left untreated, the harder it will be to recover.

Stress

Stress can result in showing itself physically.  When we are stressed, our shoulders tense and our bodies feel out of whack.  Rather than letting your stress consume you, try to take measures to reduce your stress to avoid issues like back pain.

Yoga can be a great reliever of tension and back pain, as well as other stretching exercises which you can enjoy from the privacy of your own living room.  You might want to consider asking your doctor what kind of stresses are good for stress relief.

Sleeping In A Bad Position

Sleeping with too many pillows or in a position which puts strain on your muscles can result in knots and kinks in your back.

Try to always sleep flat on your back or on your side without twisting too much.

Although a lot of pillows can be nice to prop yourself up, it isn’t advised to use too many pillows during the night as you sleep, since your neck angled upwards is an unnatural position which can result in some pretty serious pain the next day.

Working In A Chair With Bad Support

If you work a job which requires you to sit in one place for long periods of time hunched over on a computer, this can start to quickly take its toll on your body.

Always try to work in a chair which is ergonomically suited for your back and will provide the support you need to avoid pain.
